CentOS is a Linux distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), it stands for Community Enterprise Operating System. It’s a widely accepted operating system in enterprise environments.

CentOS being an enterprise operating system makes it secure and stable, which is why it is the most accepted operating system in the web hosting industry. Most hosting panels such as cPanel, DirectAdmin, Lxadmin, Server CP+ among others are supported and preferred to be installed on CentOS.
